I'm a enormous Brecker fan, so this this was an easy sell. Complete with minor second harmonies and awesome hooks throughout a must for any Brecker fan. If you're a fan of octave and rhythmic displacement, Broadband is your jam! Cool Day in Hell is so...New York, it screams the city, it has such an attitude. I'm making sure I still have my wallet right now! I dig it bad. Angle of Response and Never Alone are your ballads, but 'Brecker-ized'. They're reminiscent of James Cagney soundtracks with a nuts but rocking-outside playing-lead tenor. Definition of Beauty. Timbuktu is, funny enough, his more standard African-esque 6 against 4 vibe. I am always a fan. This is one of the two vibes that hooked me years ago, this was one of 'em. NIght Jessamine was the other. The grooves are so hot with, what I am assuming, is his brother's trumpet setting off the top's of those nuts harmonies! Evening Faces and Modus Operandy are adventures in uptemps and sick, sick grooves. Scylla is, again, a late night walk in Chelsea pier to more uptown then you get to 44th and back, so scenic, and so New York vibe. Amazing. Brexterity is so out but in. Very Brecker. Huge interval chops crazy groove changes. Not just my cup of tea, the whole pot!
