A full-length rear zipper makes this gorgeously crafted harness boot easy to fit, enter, and wear. The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

MY HEIGHT: 5’3” - Boot falls 1.75” below my knee.SHOE SIZE: 9 or 9.5. I ordered 9.5 based on the review of others saying to do so. I have enough room to wear thick socks. My feet are average width.CALF: 16.5 inches. I never really paid attention to the size of my calves until I started to buy tall boots. I have large calves. I got them zipped up.HOW I GOT THEM ON!!: I had to lie down on my bed with my leg up, like a capital L and zipped these babies up! I saw another review that suggested that, so I did and it worked! I put split rings on the zippers (like on key chains) to help me grasp them to make it easier to zip up. I wore them around the house with no sock (because I could fit one under the boots) and they did stretch a little. This morning I’m wearing them with a tall sock and my PJ pants tucked in. It’s stretching and I have no doubt I’ll be able to get my pant leg into them by the end of the week. I’m not worried about it fitting and I’m keeping them.WHAT I THINK: I’m keeping these boots because I got them at a stupid great price on Amazon and it was the last one at that price! It was such a great deal that I bought them and then looked at the specs of the boots! I later saw they were made for smaller calves and worried about getting it zipped. I’m losing weight, the boots will fit perfectly in a few months if I don’t try to stretch them, but I can’t wait that long, which is why I’m wearing them around the house now. I think if you have a 15.5” calf, they will fit you fine. My daughter has long legs and thin calves and they fit her with lots of room to spare and is about 3” from the bottom of her knee. There is plenty of room to wear a thick sock and still be comfortable. People mentioned the zipper being stuck. Mine zipped up fine except at the very bottom where it got hooked up just a little. Beeswax will help to glide it along. The leather is very soft and it matches the color (camel) of my Frye Jenny backpack perfectly.WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:I don’t like the sole too much because it is smooth. I wished it had a little bit of traction. I’ll have to get something added to the bottom. I may also add some gel inserts since there isn’t very much arch support.Overall, they are nice boots. I only gave 4 stars because of the things I didn’t like. It could use a little tread at the bottom. If I didn’t get such a great deal on them (you wanna know how much?!?!—$107!!! I know, I know! I always want to know how much when people say they got a great deal!), I wouldn’t have purchased them because I had other Frye boots ahead on my list.I have the Campus Lug coming in today (40% off sale directly from Frye with free 2 day ship 12/14/15, but since I live close to NJ, it’s only 1 day ship!) and will write a review for them later.***UPDATE*** I'm able to zip up the boots with no problem over my skinny jeans! The leather stretched out plenty for me in such a short time. The leather is supple and there is no lining on the inside. My right leg feels looser than the left, but it's probably just my legs measuring slightly different. They are very cute and highly recommend them. :D
